Oh man, seriously guys.  I'm very particular with my Maureens, but Nicole totally pulled it off!  GAH!  And her making out with Tracie Thoms was so totally hot!

AWESOME LIST:
  • Finally saw In the Heights.  The music was amazing, the energy was great, and I totally cried throughout the whole thing because I was just THAT excited.  It definitely lived up to my expectations.  It was an honor to see Lin-Manuel Miranda play the role that he originated in Broadway.
  • I love the Los Angeles Public Library. The "teen" section of the building had these humongous bean bag thingies and it's officially my favorite place to read.  Luckily, I look young enough that I can still blend in.
  • Speaking of... I'm currently reading The Passage by Justin Cronin and He's a Stud, She's a Slut And 49 Other Double Standards Every Woman Should Know by Jessica Valenti.  It's about time I start opening books again (or turning on my Kindle).
  • I was having a bad day yesterday so I made an appointment to get a massage after work.  Man, it was good.  And the best part is that it only cost $45 for 1 hour.
  • I'm going to the Renegade Craft Fair next Saturday!  And you know what's even more awesome?  I totally won a $20 gift certificate from KXLU that I can use to buy stuff at the event!
  • Catching up on Friday Night Lights.  Even with the fresh new faces, it's still good :D
  • Started watching Pretty Little Liars.  I'm not sure yet if I find it awesome enough, but I'll keep watching.
  • So much drama lately.  I'm distancing myself from Facebook for a while and focusing more on the positives.  "Less lonely and more happy" is the motto.
  • In an effort to be less lonely and more happy, I'm gonna try to get in on this 365 project thing.  One picture a day for 365 days.  It'll get my creative juices flowing and also put some meat in my thinning LiveJournal blog.  I'll be posting my first picture shortly.

Last night's episode of Glee was so overly hyped up on Facebook and Twitter that when finally saw it today, I was so underwhelmed.  Yes, it did have some funny moments, but dudes... everyone and their mommas JUST HAD TO quote that "gay dolphin" thing.  By the time I heard Brittany say it, the joke was already played out!  LOL!!!

(But yay for Brittany and Santana!  It's possible that they can dethrone Artie and Tina as my Glee OTP.)

At the suggestion of [livejournal.com profile] portiapm, I thought I should give this whole "Gratitude Journal" a try.  I'm sick and tired of being defeated by stress and it's time for me to start kicking its ass.  So every day whenever I can, I'm going to blog about the awesome things that have happened to me on a particular day.  I'm not going to ignore all the bad, of course.  I'm still gonna use my right to bitch.  But it helps to acknowledge the good stuff too.  So anyways... here it is:

Today's Awesome List
  • Lunch break at the LMU bluff: The view was pretty, the breeze was cold, and the fruit parfait was yummy.
  • I put labels on a whole bunch of envelopes, I stuffed brochures into a whole bunch of envelopes, and I sealed a whole bunch of envelopes.  So relaxing :)
  • My sister finally got a Disneyland Annual Pass and she went to Disneyland today for the first time in about 5 years!  I'm so proud.  (And on that note, I'm going to Disneyland with her on Sunday and I'm freaking excited!)
  • Tomorrow's Bones episode?  Yep, already saw it!
  • My mom gave me loose change.  Cha-ching!!!  I have bus fare!!!
  • I got my In the Heights ticket in the mail!!
So there you go!  Now if you'll excuse me... the bed is calling my name.  Goodnight!

So… one day I drank from a cup that was sitting on top of the Sparkletts bottle in the kitchen and the next thing I knew, I had a sore throat. Whoop-de-do, I’m sick again. But at least I get a 5-day weekend. On the downside, I was going to watch The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo at the Arclight tomorrow, but not anymore. I’m dripping snot and the sky is too and it's gonna rain again tomorrow. Anyway, I guess I’ll just watch the movie through illegal means…

***

Yay! So I got tickets to see Chicago, Phantom of the Opera, and In the Heights!!!!  I don't really care for Phantom... wasn't too crazy about the movie and the music, but I feel obligated to see it just cuz it's Phantom.  But anyway, I bought the cheapest ticket I could buy.

On the other hand, I'm so freaking excited about IN THE HEIGHTS!!!  Man, I've been dying to see this musical!!!!  I remember listening to the soundtrack and I cried cuz it's so good!  I have to wait until July to watch it, but OMG... wheee!!!

Project Runway pet peeves:
  • "One day you're in, and the next day... you're out." Shut up, shut up, SHUT UP!!! Must Heidi Klum say this every fucking episode?!!
  • Why do the designers have to meet Heidi in the same fucking room at the beginning of each show?  I mean, all she does is tell them to go someplace else to meet Tim Gunn.  It's pointless.  Why can't she just be where Tim Gunn already is and save us some time?
  • And finally... the way Heidi says "Nina Garcia" is just... ARRRGHHH!!!  I know it's her accent and all, but... it's just like fingernails against the blackboard for me!

Fuck you, Capital One.  Fuck you for sneaking this weird Credit Inform charge into my bill.  I don't trust you anymore.  I'll be canceling my credit card soon.

Here's what happened:
I got a new credit card because my old one was about to expire.  To activate the card, I had to call a particular phone number.  But instead of getting an automated recording, I got an actual person.  I thought it was weird.  I've never gotten a real person before.... not when I'm activating a card, at least.  Anyway, it was someone from the Philippines who had a thick accent and who talked too fast.  She (he?) talked too damn fast that it forced me to say "Uh-huh" to everything.  And apparently, by saying "Uh-huh," one too many times, I've agreed to pay for this thing called Credit Inform.  It's about $9.00 a month!  FUCK THAT!

Unfortunately, I can't cancel Credit Inform online.  I have to call the fucking company.  I'm sure it won't be easy.  Apparently, they ask you all these questions to verify your identity including your Social Security Number.  Now, I understand why they'd ask for that information... but the company's just so shady that I feel iffy about sharing any info with them.  And of course, by calling them they'll have a chance to rope you back in.  I'm really not looking forward to doing this.

And since Capital One allowed this kind of fuckery to happen, I don't trust them anymore.  This can possibly be a blessing in disguise.  I have way too many credit cards and it's time to get rid of some of 'em.

So I walked into a bar...

AND JENNA USHKOWITZ GOT UP AND PERFORMED??!!!!
Yes, yes she did.

So here's what happened:
My cousin Demi and I went to Kyle Riabko and Christy Altomare's Upright Cabaret show tonight.  We got seated in front of the stage and it was amazing. In walks Chris Colfer and Jenna Uskowitz.  My fangirl self squeed on the inside.  I quickly got all giddy cuz I thought Kevin McHale would be there too, but alas... he was nowhere to be found.  Jenna and Chris sat at a corner booth with a couple other girls who I didn't recognize.

Oh, and have I mentioned that my boobs almost touched them???  Yes, you heard me right.  The aisles in that bar were soooo narrow that when Jenna, Chris, and I passed by each other, we had to turn to our sides and walk sideways down the aisle.  Well, I was facing the two of them as I walked sideways back to my chair.  Our chests were like, 1-inch apart.  LOL!!!  Well, since Chris was so tall, my chest was more leveled with his stomach, but whatever :D

Anyways, Kyle Riabko and Christy Altomare called Jenna up on stage a couple of times to sing with them!  The first time she had a duet with Christy and the second time all three of them performed "Touch Me" from Spring Awakening.  It was amazing.  Jenna looked awesome and she was hot!

Here are a few more pics!!! )

After the show, I really wanted to get a pic with Jenna and Chris, but they left very quickly. Booo. But all in all, it was a great experience and I got to hear Jenna sing live!!!

I had quite a day last Saturday. I woke up early, got on the Metro, ate breakfast at The Farm in L.A. Live, and while I was enjoying my perfectly perfect blueberry pancakes, in walks Arnold Schwarzenegger...

Yep. The Governator.
He was with a whole bunch of kids, four other men, and a couple of bodyguards. AND GUESS WHERE HE SAT??

AT THE TABLE RIGHT NEXT TO MINE.
What.

It was almost like when I saw Neil Patrick Harris up close at the airport, except not as awesome. Anyways, after I ate breakfast I got on another train and exited at Pershing Square. I thought it was about damn time that I visited the 500 Days of Summer bench. Damn, that was a hard climb. I don't know how Zooey Deschanel managed to get up there with those shoes she was wearing. I was glad the bench was there cuz my legs hurt and I was out of breath! And yes, I sat on it. It really is a nice spot despite, you know, all the homeless people sleeping on the grass.

Oh, and did I mention that someone on the nearby bench offered me weed?

Afterwards I ate at Grand Central Market, hopped on another train, and saw Mary Poppins at the Ahmanson Theater. I shit you not, I got a front row seat for only $20. Score!!!

You guysss... yesterday marked my 16th year living in the USA. I remember being so homesick when I was younger, but you know what? I'm SO HAPPY I live in this country. I don't think I can ever go back to the Philippines. Maybe for a very short vacation, yes, but I don't think I can live there again. Not with all the ridiculousness that's happening over there. Interestingly enough...
As an American citizen, I feel more safe and free seeing this rainbow flag fly over The Castro than, say, the American flag.

(Please excuse the photo.  I took it with my Blackberry and it was cloudy!)

Anyways... so YAY!!! I went to San Francisco last week with my BFF 4-EVA, Lisa Turtle.  We had such a fucking blast, I tell you.  We ate A LOT of pretty awesome food: Fries at Catch Isle, short ribs at First Crush, crepes at Honey Honey, sea food at Wipeout Bar & Grill, Chinese food at Oriental Pearl, pasta at Mona Lisa Restaurant, ice cream and cupcakes at Ghirardelli Square, ribs and MORE seafood at Pier Market... oh man, the list goes on!!!  I wish I can go back and eat, eat, eat!!!

Besides eating, we also saw Wicked at The Orpheum and Up at the Castro Theatre.  Had a blast in Chinatown, Union Square, and Pier 39 (we took a tour of the Alcatraz!).  I even found a knitting store while walking around Castro!  It's called ImagiKnit and oh my god, I've never seen so much yarn in my life!  BTW, our hotel was right next to a frigging LUSH!!!!!!  I totally controlled myself, though.  I only bought a few things.  And by "few," I mean "a shower jelly, two massage bars, and a bubble bar."  It's all good :)

All in all, it was one of the best vacations ever!!!
Lisaaaaaaaa, let's go back to SF, OMGGGGGGGG!!!  The cable cars are ding-ding-dinging for us!!!!

There was a fatal car accident near LMU today. An old man waiting for the bus was killed. What's even scarier is that I'm very very VERY familiar with the area. My bus stops at that same bench that was wrecked. I mean, that could have been me. Sometimes when I'm waiting for the bus, I'd think, "What if a car goes out of control and hits me?" Now I'd be thinking about it more often than I did. ::sighs:: The paranoia will drive me crazy.

I'm back from my vacation. Had the BEST Broadway musical experience @ Spring Awakening. As it turns out, it was Jonathan Groff and Lea Michele's last performance and the audience was just INSANE. It really was incredible. I can't wait to see the show again when it comes to LA.

All in all, my trip has been great. For the first time EVER, me, [livejournal.com profile] cali_b, [livejournal.com profile] peakin75, and [livejournal.com profile] portiapm were finally able to be in the same room together! I was also able to hang out with Turtle for a few days in Boston. We haven't seen each other since the SYTYCD tour in Reno and even though I had a couple of emo episodes, I still had a blast.
