I was at the dentist today. That was fun. The drilling in my teeth sort of felt like getting a tattoo... on my gums. On the upside, I got to take the whole day off from work.

On a completely unrelated note: Go see Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World!!!!!!!!!  Oh man, it was awesome.  Do it as a favor to yourselves.

Dude, I had an amazing weekend.

Today's Awesome List
  • The Lakers are the 2010 NBA Champions!
  • I got my hair did, y'all. I got a trim and a lil' bit of color. I'm a sort-of redhead!
  • Saw Toy Story 3 at the IMAX and cried my eyes out. It was fantastic.
  • Imogen Heap @ the Greek Theater! Man, that woman kicks ass.
  • Went to San Diego Zoo on Sunday! I love that place.
  • Imogen Heap @ Humphrey's Concerts by the Bay. She's so good, I had to see her twice.
  • Took the day off yesterday. W00t!

So… one day I drank from a cup that was sitting on top of the Sparkletts bottle in the kitchen and the next thing I knew, I had a sore throat. Whoop-de-do, I’m sick again. But at least I get a 5-day weekend. On the downside, I was going to watch The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo at the Arclight tomorrow, but not anymore. I’m dripping snot and the sky is too and it's gonna rain again tomorrow. Anyway, I guess I’ll just watch the movie through illegal means…

***

Yay! So I got tickets to see Chicago, Phantom of the Opera, and In the Heights!!!!  I don't really care for Phantom... wasn't too crazy about the movie and the music, but I feel obligated to see it just cuz it's Phantom.  But anyway, I bought the cheapest ticket I could buy.

On the other hand, I'm so freaking excited about IN THE HEIGHTS!!!  Man, I've been dying to see this musical!!!!  I remember listening to the soundtrack and I cried cuz it's so good!  I have to wait until July to watch it, but OMG... wheee!!!

Hi!!!  Remember me?  Let us talk about Skins:
WHAA--?!!?!!
the end.

(Honestly, though, I got spoiled.  My cousin @-replied Kaya Scodelario on Twitter and I thought, "Oooh!!! Cute Twitter name!  Who is this @kayascollywogs?"  I followed the link and before I knew it, the damn chick spoiled me.  I mean, how are you gonna put a major spoiler on your Twitter?!!!  All I could do while watching the episode was speculate on how "it" was gonna happen and I must say... I didn't see it happening THAT way.)

***

I want to take a shower, but I can't.  My dad is fixing the sink in the bathroom and IT STANKS.  It smells like rust and shit-water.  Eww.

***

I've been cleaning and reorganizing my room.  My sister has moved out a couple of years ago so there's no reason for her to still have her stuff in here.  After a very satisfying Korean BBQ lunch, she came home and sorted out her junk.  We threw away 3 trash bags full of stuff and set aside another bag with things that she wants to give away. The result -- MORE STORAGE SPACE FOR ME!!!  I cleaned and reorganized until 4:30am this morning and I went to sleep thinking that I won't wake up until 1pm, but I was so wrong.  I woke up at 10:00am and couldn't go back to sleep.  Booooo.  (I did take an amazing nap at 3pm today, though, so that makes up for it!)

***

Now that the Olympics are over, I've been catching up on some movies and TV shows.  As you've read, I'm finally caught up with Skins.  I'm also working my way through Project Runway and was able to finally watch The Princess and the Frog and Precious.  Oh, btw... I bought tickets to see Alice in Wonderland at the El Capitan Theater on March 27.  I'm excited to see the movie in 3D, but I'm even more excited to see the props and costumes after the show!

***

Anyways... gotta go see about the stank outside.  If it's cleared, I'll go take that shower.  Bye!

Um... it still stanks like hell.  How am I gonna take a shower, OMG??!!!!!  Shampoo in the kitchen sink???  We'll see.

P.S. New LJ layout, y'all.  The old one wasn't working for some reason.  Perhaps it was a sign that I needed a new one.

I NEED BOOK RECS, Y'ALL.

So hit me with some of your favorite books!  I just recently finished Anthem by Ayn Rand (I wanted to re-read it), The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold (meh), and Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk (twisted, but in a good way.)  Right now I'm trying to finish Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides and Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut, but I'm almost done with both and I need new books to read!  Thanks in advance for your help :)

I should also mention that I ordered a Kindle 2 from Amazon.  Took me over a week to decide, but I eventually chose it over the oh-so-pretty Nook and the cool-looking Sony E-Reader (Touch Edition).  I'm so excited!!! I'm already planning on knitting a sleeve for it!  Oh, and I'm going to name it Sheldon... after Sheldon Cooper, of course :)

I had quite a day last Saturday. I woke up early, got on the Metro, ate breakfast at The Farm in L.A. Live, and while I was enjoying my perfectly perfect blueberry pancakes, in walks Arnold Schwarzenegger...

Yep. The Governator.
He was with a whole bunch of kids, four other men, and a couple of bodyguards. AND GUESS WHERE HE SAT??

AT THE TABLE RIGHT NEXT TO MINE.
What.

It was almost like when I saw Neil Patrick Harris up close at the airport, except not as awesome. Anyways, after I ate breakfast I got on another train and exited at Pershing Square. I thought it was about damn time that I visited the 500 Days of Summer bench. Damn, that was a hard climb. I don't know how Zooey Deschanel managed to get up there with those shoes she was wearing. I was glad the bench was there cuz my legs hurt and I was out of breath! And yes, I sat on it. It really is a nice spot despite, you know, all the homeless people sleeping on the grass.

Oh, and did I mention that someone on the nearby bench offered me weed?

Afterwards I ate at Grand Central Market, hopped on another train, and saw Mary Poppins at the Ahmanson Theater. I shit you not, I got a front row seat for only $20. Score!!!

Hey, so you know how my last two blog entries only consisted of tweets? Yeah, I'm not gonna do that anymore. They're just so random and in-the-moment and not a really blog-worthy. Like, when I try to read tweets on LJ, I just get distracted by the # and the @ and the RTs and then I'm just like, "Uh... what?" I will not subject you to that, gentle readers. Not on LJ, at least. But hey, if you want to follow me on Twitter, feel free :)

http://twitter.com/xrogue81

Yeeah... I only joined Twitter so I can follow celebrities. So far, I'm following 15... and boy, do they tweet a lot. I loves it. Oddly enough, the celeb that finally tipped me over the edge was Dichen Lachman from Dollhouse. Nothing to it, really. I was browsing through the Twitters of the Glee cast and then I clicked on a link, which led me to another link, which landed me on Dichen's Twitter. And I was like, "No way... she knows someone who knows someone from the cast of Glee? I must join Twitter... so that I may read the tweets of these lovely people all in one page."

On an even more interesting note, Joss Whedon, creator of Dollhouse, is directing an episode of Glee. Small world.  Anyways...

***

Speaking of Dollhouse... last night's episode was fucking fantastic. Why are the ratings so fucking low for this show? Can you believe that other shit-tastic shows get more viewers than this?  The Ghost Whisperer?  Really?!!  What the fuck? Anyway... FOX has decided that they're not gonna show Dollhouse during November sweeps cuz... you know... they're jackasses.  I have to wait 'til December for the next few eps.  Fantastic.  I just keep telling myself, "At least you got two seasons!"  Ah, well...

Glee makes me laugh.  It also makes me miss Veronica Mars.  There are so many lines that are just... quote-worthy, you know??  However, I do have one huge problem with it.  Well, actually... I have two problems.  One: I know they all gotta lip sync, but damn... they suck at lip syncing.  It sort of ruins the moment when the track you hear has multiple people singing, but only one cast member is moving his/her mouth.  LOL!!!  Two: Dudes, I'm tired of Rachel and Finn singing all the freaking time.  Yes, Mercedes gets her chance too... but there are other people in the cast, yo.  Let them sing more.  Like, hello?  Asian girl, gay boy, and wheelchair dude.  Moar singing from you guys plz.

P.S. I'm stalking these kids on Twitter right now, btw.  I still don't have a Twitter, but that don't stop me.

I saw Paranormal Activity tonight.  It shook me up real good.  I mean, it was a very simple movie, but you know... it made me all paranoid and shit.  Now I feel totally weird just sitting here in my own bedroom!  Eeep!  I don't think I can sleep tonight.  I'll be having a marathon of Man vs. Food and HIMYM until the sun comes up.

Interestingly enough...
As an American citizen, I feel more safe and free seeing this rainbow flag fly over The Castro than, say, the American flag.

(Please excuse the photo.  I took it with my Blackberry and it was cloudy!)

Anyways... so YAY!!! I went to San Francisco last week with my BFF 4-EVA, Lisa Turtle.  We had such a fucking blast, I tell you.  We ate A LOT of pretty awesome food: Fries at Catch Isle, short ribs at First Crush, crepes at Honey Honey, sea food at Wipeout Bar & Grill, Chinese food at Oriental Pearl, pasta at Mona Lisa Restaurant, ice cream and cupcakes at Ghirardelli Square, ribs and MORE seafood at Pier Market... oh man, the list goes on!!!  I wish I can go back and eat, eat, eat!!!

Besides eating, we also saw Wicked at The Orpheum and Up at the Castro Theatre.  Had a blast in Chinatown, Union Square, and Pier 39 (we took a tour of the Alcatraz!).  I even found a knitting store while walking around Castro!  It's called ImagiKnit and oh my god, I've never seen so much yarn in my life!  BTW, our hotel was right next to a frigging LUSH!!!!!!  I totally controlled myself, though.  I only bought a few things.  And by "few," I mean "a shower jelly, two massage bars, and a bubble bar."  It's all good :)

All in all, it was one of the best vacations ever!!!
Lisaaaaaaaa, let's go back to SF, OMGGGGGGGG!!!  The cable cars are ding-ding-dinging for us!!!!

I'm so boring!  I have nothing to blog about anymore!  LOL!!!  I guess I'll just do bulletpoints:
  • My annual staff performance review is tomorrow.  ::sighs::  I never liked being evaluated by my superior.  I always end up crying in the end.  I mean, it's a very stressful experience for me!!!!
  • My Internet sucks.  I've gotten logged off 15 times in the past 30 minutes.
  • I love this lotion: Vanilla Dee-Lite
  • I saw Star Trek at the IMAX.  It was very enjoyable :)
  • I finished knitting my arm-warmers!!!!  They are fab!
  • My Blackberry keeps dying.  It needs a new battery.  I ordered a new battery online, but the postman didn't want to deliver it.  He left one of those pink slips that said, "Sorry we missed you!" instead.  And it sucks cuz the package was so small that it could have fit in my mailbox.  Long story short, the post office didn't re-deliver the package.  I left the pink slip on our door and indicated that I want them to leave the package on our porch, but the postman ignored it for two days.  On the third day, he took the pink slip... and 4 days later I still don't have my Blackberry battery.  So I had to contact the seller and blah-di-blah-di-blah she's sending me another one.  I hope it gets here quick cuz I'm desperate.  I did not get a data plan just so I can use it for 10 minutes and have my phone die on me.
  • I've suddenly become a tea drinker.  The VP of Academic Affairs gave all the admin assistants loose tea and tea mugs (with an infuser) for Administrative Assistant Appreciation Day and now I'm all, "OMG... loose tea and mugs with infusers.  It makes tea-drinking all luxurious-like."
  • My Internet is still off and on.  Will this blog make it online tonight?  We'll see...

So there I was, watching RENT for the 4th time in my life...

I was so excited because Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp were reprising their roles as Roger and Mark, and another original member, Gwen Stewart, was also there as the "Seasons of Love" soloist. A couple of other people came from the Broadway show as well -- AND it's weird cuz like, they're in my "filmed LIVE on Broadway" DVD! Heee!!! Justin Johnston, you are my favorite Angel!!!!!

Anyways, so there I was, watching RENT for the 4th time in my life...
When I saw frigging KEVIN SMITH walking down the aisle!!!

I was like, "Dude... that's frigging Kevin Smith!!!" And as if she read my mind, the woman sitting next to me said, "That's Kevin Smith, isn't it???!" I... didn't know what to do!!! He was sitting on the same row as me on the other side of the theatre! I wanted to get a picture so badly! I mean, the guy changed the way I see things, yo. Opened up my mind forrealz.

Cut to: Intermission
The internal struggle was legit, dudes. Should I? Should I approach him? I mean, he was sitting RIGHT THERE! Then finally I decided that YES -- I will ask for a photo. So I stood up, walked towards him, when all of a sudden he was gone!!! Aaaah!!! My cousin Demi called me on my cellphone wondering where I was (we're sitting in different sections) so I started chatting with her. I thought to myself, "Nah... it's ok if I don't get a pic with Kevin Smith. Nevermind. I'll just meet Demi." So blah blah blah, I was talking to Demi in the phone when suddenly she said, "OMG... SILENT BOB JUST WALKED PAST ME!!!"

Meep!!! That means he's coming back to his seat!! I braced myself and watched him walk down the aisle. I started to approach him, and then decided not to. But then I changed my mind!! And... then... I turned back around. Oh but he's sitting my himself!!! But... maybe he doesn't want to be bothered...

I pretended that I was looking for somebody, so I just walked up and down the aisle right next to him, avoiding his eyes. He probably knew that I was there to talk to him and that I wasn't really looking for anybody. I suck. After pacing the aisle for the 5th time, my eyes noticed the huge bald spot on his head. Then I thought to myself, "Dude... he's just a regular guy with a bald spot. Go talk to him NOW." So I did.

"Hi, Mr. Smith? Is it okay if I get a picture with you?"
Yeah, sure! But... I don't think we're allowed to take pictures in here right now.
"Oh, ok. Well, thanks anyway!"

*I turned around and started to leave*

Well, maybe after the show?
"Really?!"
Yeah!
"Oh! Okay! Thank you so much!"

*I started to leave again, but...*

"Um... thanks again. I just... wanted to shake your hand."

*The humiliation has eaten me up inside and am now ded*
*Kevin Smith extended his hand and I shook it*

"Thanks... again... thank you."
Sure, sure! No problem!
"If I see you after the show, I'll get that picture. But if not, it's been nice meeting you!"
You too! Thanks!

I realized afterwards that I didn't even tell him my name. After the show, I tried looking for him again but he either a) left already or b) got mobbed by fans so I couldn't see him. Man, I was such a dork! Of all the things I could have said to him I actually went with "I just... wanted to shake your hand?" I mean, I could have said "Chasing Amy is one of my favorite movies." Or "Zack and Miri Make A Porno is the most romantic film I've seen this year." I mean, I wanted to give him props for his work, man. But... nooooooooo. God! *headdesk*

Counting down the days until the holiday break...

Did you know that I haven't done any Christmas shopping yet? Oh how I miss the days when my parents used to buy the presents for the family. Now that responsibility has landed on me and my sister. We were doing fine, but now the money's kinda' tight and we have A LOT of cousins. Alas, we shall resort to $10 gift cards. So if you're my cousin and you're reading this blog entry, you WILL get a $10 gift card.

I'm still not done with my "30 Rock" marathon. I just don't have enough time to watch everything that I want to watch even though I've already deleted a couple of shows from my Tivo queue. Heck, I even started watching "Heroes" and "The Office" at work (thanks Hulu!) so I don't have to watch them at home, but when I get home it's like, "Oh... I've got Netflix movies too?? Dammit!" I swear, one of these days I'm gonna end up canceling either TiVo or Netflix...

Speaking of "things to watch," the following DVDs have been purchased:
  • Bones, Season 3
  • Scrubs, Season 7
  • Little Manhattan
  • Bourne Trilogy boxed set
  • Be Kind Rewind
  • Casablanca
Dear lord, where will I stash these things? I'm running out of shelf space!!! Oh, by the way... WTF is up with "Pushing Daisies" getting axed?!! I know that the ratings sucked, but man... it's my favorite TV show besides "Bones."

"My heart... It feels like my chest can barely contain it. Like it's trying to escape because it doesn't belong to me anymore. It belongs to you. And if you wanted it, I'd wish for nothing in exchange - no gifts. No goods. No demonstrations of devotion. Nothing but knowing you loved me too. Just your heart, in exchange for mine."
- Yvaine, Stardust

Nope. I haven't read Breaking Dawn yet. I figured I can just torrent the damn thing, but when I tried to cancel my Amazon order, it wouldn't let me. Apparently they're already getting ready to ship it. Boo.

This weekend, I watched movies. I particularly loved Penelope and Charlie Bartlett. Fun times. I also got some sleep, but that didn't make me any less sleepy than I already am. I mean, what's up with that? I was more alert when I was sleep deprived!!!

I re-joined Facebook. Yep, you heard me. MySpace was just having way too many issues that I had to release some of my frustration. I don't understand why I'm not getting any notifications and why my updates are not showing up. Yo, MySpace... if you're gonna steal some of Facebook's features, at least make sure they are functioning properly! Don't get me wrong, I'm still on MySpace... but unless Tom (or whoever) fixes these little things, I'mma go cheat on them with Facebook.

(But please, do not send me any vampire/zombie applications.)

So You Think You Can Dance Tour
Honda Center, Anaheim, CA
September 27, 2008

Floor seats
Section 106, Row 1, Seats 7 and 8

I'm still holding out for better seats, though. I might end up going to the L.A. show if I can get a good spot in the pit section.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

An escalator can never break. It can only become stairs. You should never see an "Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order" sign, just "Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience."

My ex-coworker Ashley informed me that today is National Cheesecake Day. Each slice of cheesecake at The Cheesecake Factory is only supposed to be $1.50. If so, then DAMMIT!!!! There's no Cheesecake Factory around here.

Yes. I've seen the Wolverine trailer. And yes, I saw my man Gambit in it. With clear eyes and a full heart :D

I... uh... pre-ordered Breaking Dawn. Epic fail or big fun? I'm actually hearing a lot of LOLz about the Twilight series/movie/fandom lately. Wish I can join in. Oh my god I can't wait to read this book and LOL with the rest of you.
