My room caught fire last night.  Our smoke detector didn't work and neither did the fire extinguishers.  I've already gone through 2 small kitchen fires previously, so I've developed a strong paranoia about fires starting.  So while I was taking a shower last night... I smelled something weird.  I quickly put a towel around me and ran for my room.  The fire had already started.

I called 911 while my mom drenched some towels in water to put out the fire.  The fire was already out when the fire department and police came.  Me, my brother and my mom were so lucky that the fire was contained in my room.  Unfortunately, my mom got 2nd degree burns on her hands.  She doesn't have insurance and she had to pay a butt load of money just so the hospital attendants can ignore her.  $1,500 later... all they gave her was Vicodin.

I was afraid that the cause of fire was my stupid scented candle.  However, according to the fireman, it was my TV.  So now my TV is long gone.  My room is covered in soot and I don't even know where to start the clean-up process.  The wall where my TV was is now charred and I don't know if it can be saved.  I'm going to Home Depot today so that I can get some cleaning supplies.  Then I'll take a day off from work tomorrow so that I can wash all my clothes.

The whole thing keeps replaying in my head.  I wish it would stop.  I'll probably be without a TV for a while (or... perhaps forever) cuz I'd like to pay my mom back for the hospital bills and I can't afford to buy a new TV.  Of course, I'd have to cancel my TiVo service...

I also had to sleep over my sister's place because I couldn't stand being in my room.  It still smells like smoke and and brings back memories of what had happened.

I hope my mom is okay.
Will the fire department bill us for their services???  What about 911?  Can we afford to pay?
I'm dreading the clean-up process.  Any tips?

: You're a really good dancer.
Finn: Thanks! But my feet weren't really moving.
Brittany: That was the best part.

Last night's episode of Glee was so overly hyped up on Facebook and Twitter that when finally saw it today, I was so underwhelmed.  Yes, it did have some funny moments, but dudes... everyone and their mommas JUST HAD TO quote that "gay dolphin" thing.  By the time I heard Brittany say it, the joke was already played out!  LOL!!!

(But yay for Brittany and Santana!  It's possible that they can dethrone Artie and Tina as my Glee OTP.)

At the suggestion of [livejournal.com profile] portiapm, I thought I should give this whole "Gratitude Journal" a try.  I'm sick and tired of being defeated by stress and it's time for me to start kicking its ass.  So every day whenever I can, I'm going to blog about the awesome things that have happened to me on a particular day.  I'm not going to ignore all the bad, of course.  I'm still gonna use my right to bitch.  But it helps to acknowledge the good stuff too.  So anyways... here it is:

Today's Awesome List
  • Lunch break at the LMU bluff: The view was pretty, the breeze was cold, and the fruit parfait was yummy.
  • I put labels on a whole bunch of envelopes, I stuffed brochures into a whole bunch of envelopes, and I sealed a whole bunch of envelopes.  So relaxing :)
  • My sister finally got a Disneyland Annual Pass and she went to Disneyland today for the first time in about 5 years!  I'm so proud.  (And on that note, I'm going to Disneyland with her on Sunday and I'm freaking excited!)
  • Tomorrow's Bones episode?  Yep, already saw it!
  • My mom gave me loose change.  Cha-ching!!!  I have bus fare!!!
  • I got my In the Heights ticket in the mail!!
So there you go!  Now if you'll excuse me... the bed is calling my name.  Goodnight!

Hi!!!  Remember me?  Let us talk about Skins:
the end.

(Honestly, though, I got spoiled.  My cousin @-replied Kaya Scodelario on Twitter and I thought, "Oooh!!! Cute Twitter name!  Who is this @kayascollywogs?"  I followed the link and before I knew it, the damn chick spoiled me.  I mean, how are you gonna put a major spoiler on your Twitter?!!!  All I could do while watching the episode was speculate on how "it" was gonna happen and I must say... I didn't see it happening THAT way.)

I want to take a shower, but I can't.  My dad is fixing the sink in the bathroom and IT STANKS.  It smells like rust and shit-water.  Eww.

I've been cleaning and reorganizing my room.  My sister has moved out a couple of years ago so there's no reason for her to still have her stuff in here.  After a very satisfying Korean BBQ lunch, she came home and sorted out her junk.  We threw away 3 trash bags full of stuff and set aside another bag with things that she wants to give away. The result -- MORE STORAGE SPACE FOR ME!!!  I cleaned and reorganized until 4:30am this morning and I went to sleep thinking that I won't wake up until 1pm, but I was so wrong.  I woke up at 10:00am and couldn't go back to sleep.  Booooo.  (I did take an amazing nap at 3pm today, though, so that makes up for it!)

Now that the Olympics are over, I've been catching up on some movies and TV shows.  As you've read, I'm finally caught up with Skins.  I'm also working my way through Project Runway and was able to finally watch The Princess and the Frog and Precious.  Oh, btw... I bought tickets to see Alice in Wonderland at the El Capitan Theater on March 27.  I'm excited to see the movie in 3D, but I'm even more excited to see the props and costumes after the show!

Anyways... gotta go see about the stank outside.  If it's cleared, I'll go take that shower.  Bye!

Um... it still stanks like hell.  How am I gonna take a shower, OMG??!!!!!  Shampoo in the kitchen sink???  We'll see.

P.S. New LJ layout, y'all.  The old one wasn't working for some reason.  Perhaps it was a sign that I needed a new one.

Edited to add: OMG, how awesome is my new Rogue icon?  Love this picture!

Only in and out your lips;
The broken wishes washing with them to shore

- "Touch Me" from Spring Awakening

So I walked into a bar...

Yes, yes she did.

So here's what happened:
My cousin Demi and I went to Kyle Riabko and Christy Altomare's Upright Cabaret show tonight.  We got seated in front of the stage and it was amazing. In walks Chris Colfer and Jenna Uskowitz.  My fangirl self squeed on the inside.  I quickly got all giddy cuz I thought Kevin McHale would be there too, but alas... he was nowhere to be found.  Jenna and Chris sat at a corner booth with a couple other girls who I didn't recognize.

Oh, and have I mentioned that my boobs almost touched them???  Yes, you heard me right.  The aisles in that bar were soooo narrow that when Jenna, Chris, and I passed by each other, we had to turn to our sides and walk sideways down the aisle.  Well, I was facing the two of them as I walked sideways back to my chair.  Our chests were like, 1-inch apart.  LOL!!!  Well, since Chris was so tall, my chest was more leveled with his stomach, but whatever :D

Anyways, Kyle Riabko and Christy Altomare called Jenna up on stage a couple of times to sing with them!  The first time she had a duet with Christy and the second time all three of them performed "Touch Me" from Spring Awakening.  It was amazing.  Jenna looked awesome and she was hot!

Here are a few more pics!!! )

After the show, I really wanted to get a pic with Jenna and Chris, but they left very quickly. Booo. But all in all, it was a great experience and I got to hear Jenna sing live!!!

Dear Self:
Why are you shipping real-life celebrities again, OMG?!!!

Dear Self:
Uh, because they are cute together -- DUH!

(I totally blame Twitter for this.)

On Saturday I saw Cirque du Soleil's "Kooza" at the Santa Monica Pier with my sister. It was my first Cirque show ever and I really enjoyed it! I totally went on Netflix afterwards and rented all the Cirque DVDs. Maybe the next time I go to Vegas, I'll see another show! If only the tickets weren't so damn expensive...

Tomorrow I'm leaving work early because I'm gonna see Spring Awakening (again) with my cousin Demi! Woo hoo!!!! This is probably the 5th time I'm seeing it. And guess what? I'm going to see it one more time on November 21 with my cousins Mylene and Erin! Oh man, I'm so excited!

By the way, I've secured a ticket for Dreamgirls as well. Still debating whether or not I want to see Mary Poppins...

Grrrr... Arrrgghhh.
FOX canceled "Dollhouse." We'll always have Twitter, Eliza Dushku.

(Seriously, that girl is a bit crazy with her Twitter updates. I love it.)

Also -- Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon are the cutest married couple ever.

Anyways, I gotta get back to real life now. I'm outeee --->

On Disney:
My cousins and I went to the D23 Expo last Sunday and had a blast!  Check out some of my pics

On television:
I've seen the premiere of "Bones" and "The Office."  I haven't seen last week's SYTYCD, nor have I seen the last two eps of "Top Chef" and "Project Runway."  No time for TV!!!!

I watched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince this morning. I did enjoy it at some level, but did anyone else think that it was a bit... boring? I thought it was all talk and no action. Part of me was very disappointed.

It needed moar epic. )

I still enjoyed the movie, however. It's just lacking a little something. It's one thing for me to get bored with it, but I felt worse when my sister started yawning and her boyfriend's nephew started asking, "Can we go home now??? Can we gooo home nowwwww?" ::sighs::

"I've just decided to switch our Friday schedule to Monday, which means that the test we take each Friday on what we learned during the week will now take place on Monday before we've learned it. But since today is Tuesday, it doesn't matter in the slightest."

- Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

I know this is about 6 days late, but... LAKERS ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!! I was at the Hearthstone Lounge at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel with my friend Kamilla when it happened. I gotta say, the place needs a big flat screen TV. I had to check my cellphone for scores cuz their TV was so small that I couldn't see what was happening! Anyways, we chilled and had a couple of drinks and enjoyed our time at Disneyland where a whole bunch of people were sporting their Laker gear. It made me so happy.

I didn't get to go to the parade cuz I'm such an awesome LMU employee, but a couple of my cousins were there and I'm so jealous! I want Puppet!Kobe as much as I want Puppet!Angel.

Packin' up my office... movin' to a new library in a few weeks! I'm going to lose my office, but look... they're giving me a Pam Beesley counter!

The commute home: OLD version
LMU > Santa Monica Bus > Metro Green Line > Dad or bro picks me and my mom up from the station > HOME

But since my mom's work got relocated and she's being such a difficult old woman, I've decided "to hell with this, you deal with your own rides and I'll deal with mine."  I didn't care if it took me longer to get home just so I don't have to deal with her anymore.  So...

The commute home: NEW version
LMU > Santa Monica Bus > Metro Green Line > Metro bus > long walk home > HOME

It takes about 3 hours... as opposed to one.

Public transportation hasn't been good to me either!  I even changed my work schedule so that I can leave the office by 4:30, but I keep missing the train or the bus by 5 seconds so I have to wait 15-25 minutes for the next one.  Blah.  And no, I'm still not gonna start driving.

Anyways, back to work!

So there I was, watching RENT for the 4th time in my life...

I was so excited because Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp were reprising their roles as Roger and Mark, and another original member, Gwen Stewart, was also there as the "Seasons of Love" soloist. A couple of other people came from the Broadway show as well -- AND it's weird cuz like, they're in my "filmed LIVE on Broadway" DVD! Heee!!! Justin Johnston, you are my favorite Angel!!!!!

Anyways, so there I was, watching RENT for the 4th time in my life...
When I saw frigging KEVIN SMITH walking down the aisle!!!

I was like, "Dude... that's frigging Kevin Smith!!!" And as if she read my mind, the woman sitting next to me said, "That's Kevin Smith, isn't it???!" I... didn't know what to do!!! He was sitting on the same row as me on the other side of the theatre! I wanted to get a picture so badly! I mean, the guy changed the way I see things, yo. Opened up my mind forrealz.

Cut to: Intermission
The internal struggle was legit, dudes. Should I? Should I approach him? I mean, he was sitting RIGHT THERE! Then finally I decided that YES -- I will ask for a photo. So I stood up, walked towards him, when all of a sudden he was gone!!! Aaaah!!! My cousin Demi called me on my cellphone wondering where I was (we're sitting in different sections) so I started chatting with her. I thought to myself, "Nah... it's ok if I don't get a pic with Kevin Smith. Nevermind. I'll just meet Demi." So blah blah blah, I was talking to Demi in the phone when suddenly she said, "OMG... SILENT BOB JUST WALKED PAST ME!!!"

Meep!!! That means he's coming back to his seat!! I braced myself and watched him walk down the aisle. I started to approach him, and then decided not to. But then I changed my mind!! And... then... I turned back around. Oh but he's sitting my himself!!! But... maybe he doesn't want to be bothered...

I pretended that I was looking for somebody, so I just walked up and down the aisle right next to him, avoiding his eyes. He probably knew that I was there to talk to him and that I wasn't really looking for anybody. I suck. After pacing the aisle for the 5th time, my eyes noticed the huge bald spot on his head. Then I thought to myself, "Dude... he's just a regular guy with a bald spot. Go talk to him NOW." So I did.

"Hi, Mr. Smith? Is it okay if I get a picture with you?"
Yeah, sure! But... I don't think we're allowed to take pictures in here right now.
"Oh, ok. Well, thanks anyway!"

*I turned around and started to leave*

Well, maybe after the show?
"Oh! Okay! Thank you so much!"

*I started to leave again, but...*

"Um... thanks again. I just... wanted to shake your hand."

*The humiliation has eaten me up inside and am now ded*
*Kevin Smith extended his hand and I shook it*

"Thanks... again... thank you."
Sure, sure! No problem!
"If I see you after the show, I'll get that picture. But if not, it's been nice meeting you!"
You too! Thanks!

I realized afterwards that I didn't even tell him my name. After the show, I tried looking for him again but he either a) left already or b) got mobbed by fans so I couldn't see him. Man, I was such a dork! Of all the things I could have said to him I actually went with "I just... wanted to shake your hand?" I mean, I could have said "Chasing Amy is one of my favorite movies." Or "Zack and Miri Make A Porno is the most romantic film I've seen this year." I mean, I wanted to give him props for his work, man. But... nooooooooo. God! *headdesk*

RENT was awesome, by the way. The chick who played Maureen sounded very shrill, but she was funny and nice. I was disappointed because couldn't get everyone's autographs, but I had a lot of fun. As long as this show is touring, I will keep watching :)

OMG, so The L Word, Big Love, and BSG are back as well.  I guess you can say I've been busy this weekend... just catching up with movies and TV shows.  I got a lot of sleep too, which is always good.  But what the hell is up with this California weather?  It's so hot, wtf?  It's funny cuz while all my New England peeps are complaining about the snow and the cold, I'm complaining about the heat.  I'd gladly switch places with one of you (even better if you live in the Boston area) cuz your weather is perfect for staying in, cuddling, and watching TV... which is all I wanna do on weekends.

I'm hungry.  I want Korean BBQ.  I had Korean BBQ with my sister yesterday and I want more.  Oh, how I miss the days when I used to go to Mr. Lee's Korean BBQ twice a week...

I finished listening to the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince audiobook.  I've now started on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

I think I should make more icons.  I have over 60 icon spaces, but I only have 46 icons.  But I'm not as fangirly as I used to be so I doubt I'll be making any fandom-related icons anytime soon.  But look at my cute duckie icon!!!  Adorable, no?

I tried setting up my digital TV converter box and failed.  Apparently, in able to connect it to the TiVo, I needed this thing called an IR cable.  According to the TiVo site, it was supposed to come with my TiVo when I purchased it, but nope... it didn't.  I had to buy it separately.  I just hope it arrives before February cuz OMG, how will I survive?

Then again, I torrent almost everything nowadays so there's really no rush :D

YouTube deleted my Jim/Pam fanvid due to copyright issues.  Apparently the Old 97's don't want anyone using their "Question" song.  And what's even more irritating is the fact that there are other videos out there that use the same exact song but it's MY fanvid that gets docked.

Gone with the Wind on #1 makes me sad. Am I the only one who didn't like that movie? It sucks cuz the movie was probably great story-wise, but I just hate Scarlett O'Hara so much that she ruined the entire film for me. I know, I know... a lot of people have reasons why she's such a strong and admirable character, but frankly the bitch just annoyed me. Like, stop it, Scarlett. Stop being... the way you are.

Counting down the days until the holiday break...

Did you know that I haven't done any Christmas shopping yet? Oh how I miss the days when my parents used to buy the presents for the family. Now that responsibility has landed on me and my sister. We were doing fine, but now the money's kinda' tight and we have A LOT of cousins. Alas, we shall resort to $10 gift cards. So if you're my cousin and you're reading this blog entry, you WILL get a $10 gift card.

Next year I'm totally organizing a Secret Santa thing. I'm sure my over-21 cousins would appreciate this ::crosses fingers:: I doubt me and my sister are the only ones who have inherited the burden of buying presents for everybody...

The Library Christmas party is today! I'm so ready to eat! And then tomorrow the dean of the library (my boss) is having a party at her house so I'm going there too. Mmm... food.

And speaking of food, I haven't gone to the gym at all this week.

The rain came back yesterday. I got my pants, my shoes, and my socks wet again. It's soooo cold at night too!!! Since I can't use a space heater in my room, I have to bury myself under four blankets. Going to sleep sucks at first because the first 10 minutes in my bed is freezing, but after a while it warms up and it's the comfiest sleep ever!

Seven days until my awesometastic holiday vacation!!!

  • Thanksgiving dinner @ my aunt's house. Good food, fun times, and we were outta there by a VERY early 7:00 PM.
  • Black Friday shopping. I bought a pink external hard drive, Guitar Hero for my Nintendo DS, and some DVDs:
- Election
- The Princess Bride
- Domino
- The Fast and the Furious (2-Movie Collection)
- Ghost
- Interview with the Vampire
- The 40-Year-Old Virgin
  • Saw Secondhand Serenade, Cute Is What We Aim For, Automatic Loveletter, and A Rocket to the Moon.
  • Went to Disneyland with my cousins.
  • 6-month anniversary <3

My mom just called me "fat" because I put sugar in my coffee.
Oh, I'm sorry... do I shame the family, bitch? Do you not want to present me to the public anymore cuz ::gasp:: I eat rice and I love sugar? Oh noezzz. How can I do this to them? I'm such a bad, bad daughter!

::rolls eyes::
::puts more sugar in coffee mug::

I can't wait to move out and cut my mother off. I hate paying for her cellphone service when she doesn't even know how to use a cellphone. I hate going to the living room and seeing her fangirl over Bill O'Reilly. I hate eating lunch and dinner and she's eyeing everything that I put on my plate. I hate giving her $200 a month for the household bills. Yes, this is such a vain thing to say, but... I'd rather buy a purse with that money. And food. Lots and lots of fatty foods.

I hate that I can't afford to live on my own right now.

I cleaned my room on Saturday while watching "Torchwood." I mean, I vacuum on a regular basis, but I don't dust the furniture, ya know? And I'm tellin' ya... it gets awfully dusty in here. While I was organizing my desk, I found dust bunnies behind the letter holder. Dust bunnies. On my desk. WTH? Is there a way to avoid getting too much dust in my room??? I think it's a lost cause. As long as my window's open, the dust roam free. And I cannot really close my window because I don't have an A/C so besides the weak electric fan in my room, it's my only source of cold(ish) air.

Man, I can't wait for winter. I'm dying to close my window just to keep the dust out.

I finished my season 3 DVDs of "How I Met Your Mother." Ugh, why did Britney Spears have to appear twice on that show? She can't act and she's dead in the eyes.

I went to see Pageant of the Masters with my sister last night. It was quite interesting. Neil Patrick Harris was the gala host so he did a little intro before the show started and he was HILARIOUS! Anyways, another thing worth mentioning:

Today our kitchen went up in flames.

See, my brother was frying some chicken. But then he got distracted by the Olympics and forgot all about what he was cooking. All of a sudden, I heard the smoke alarm so I ran out of my room and I saw my brother in a panic saying, "WHERE'S THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER?! WHERE'S THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER?!!!!" So I grabbed the damn extinguisher and he took the other one and we just sprayed that shit on the stove. Even the doorway was in flames, yo. And the entire ceiling was black!!!!! All the smoke (and that stuff from the fire extinguisher) stung my nose!!! My bro and my sister spent a good amount of time scrubbing all the nasty charcoal-y stuff off the ceiling and the walls and the cupboards. (But you know, I helped too.) I was literally shaking for a long time... only a few years ago, I did the same thing to our kitchen...

I am finally reading (or should I say "skimming through?") Breaking Dawn. I've rolled my eyes so much, my head hurt. I'm only on page 103, though... maybe it gets better?

I'm all about the Olympics right now. I've TiVo'ed all of the Olympic programming on NBC and I've been watching 'em since I woke up this morning. I just hope my TiVo can handle it. ((crosses fingers))

But now I have to find a new student worker for the next semester. DO NOT WANT.

Ok, anyways... so.
On Saturday I went to Meghan's graduation. And then afterwards I went to Marina del Rey to watch Forgetting Sarah Marshall. And after I saw Sarah Marshall, I saw Iron Man!! Thanks to you guys, by the way. I initially had no intention of watching it, but after hearing the collective SQUEE from my f-list, I had to give it a chance!

On Sunday, I ate at Lucille's with the fam for Mother's Day. Then I took the best nap ever. And now I'm awake and watching "Doctor Who." Fun times :)

Mmmm... lazy weekends. So much love and lots of sleep. Me loves it.

On Friday I went to Lakewood High to watch my cousin Demi play Jan in her highschool's production of Grease. She was hilarious. I love her.

On Saturday I went to see Avril Lavigne in concert. Except... she had laryngitis and had to cancel the show. I was a bit disappointed, but I must admit... I was quite relieved. That's $100+ dollars back in my pocket, baby!!!

On Sunday I slept a lot :D I wanted to watch Iron Man and Forgetting Sarah Marshall but I was much too comfy to actually want to leave my bed!

I am *up to here* with meeting minutes. Yesterday I sat through a meeting that ran 1 hour and 30 minutes longer than it was supposed to be. One hour and 30 minutes. And you know what's even more retarded? Most of it was just intra-office gossip, none of which I am interested in. And it's funny cuz after the meeting, my supervisor pulled me aside and told me that she hopes I am not discussing any of the gossip with people outside of the conference room. Puh-leaze. Everytime ya'll gossip, I tune myself out. I don't need the extra baggage. I am stressed out as it is.

(Unfortunately, since I often tune myself out I miss some of the important information that I should have been writing down.)

Me: Ah. Ok.

I've never been here before, but I feel like I'm home. I wish to stay for as long as I can.

This weekend, I...

... celebrated Mylene's birthday at The Stinking Rose with my sister and our other girl cousins. I had to return the fetuccine/pesto that I ordered cuz I didn't like it... and then I ordered short ribs instead, which was delicious. I had garlic taste in my mouth 'til Sunday night, though, and it was soooo icky!

... hung out with Lisa. We realized that we'd watch just about anything together from Kevin Smith to... jackrabbits.

... enjoyed some interspecies erotica. I mean, my cat and my pig are so cute together!! And check out how giddy I look:

... got lots and lots and lots of sleep, which, apparently, isn't enough.

On Monday, I...

... got the sudden urge to reconnect with a friend from college. Through the power of Google, I was able to read some excerpts from her "memoirs" and I thought, "Wow... I've known her for quite a while and I didn't know all this was happening." I wish I was able to be there for her while she was struggling with some of her personal issues. I do miss our X-Files marathons very much.

... watched "The L Word." Go away, TiBette!!!

... got annoyed cuz Netflix canceled my DVD order for Saving Face

... mmmm... Rhys.... mmmmm.... pony... mmmmm... Jack and Demi makeoutnowplz.

Today I...

... got swamped at work.

... got my Mighty Ducks boxed set and Enchanted in the mail.
